The P10,000 Cash Gift for Seniors Turning 80 and Up

The Expanded Centenarians Act (RA 11982) gives Filipinos a P10,000 cash gift at ages 80, 85, 90 and 95, and P100,000 at 100. Here is how to claim it.

Your lolo turns 80 next month. Between the party, the lechon, and the grandkids flying in, here is something the family should not let slip: the government now owes him a P10,000 cash gift. And there are three more waiting at 85, 90, and 95.

That is the heart of Republic Act No. 11982, the Expanded Centenarians Act, signed on 26 February 2024. It amended the older Centenarians Act of 2016 (Republic Act No. 10868), which used to reward only Filipinos who reached 100. The milestones now start two decades earlier.

What the law gives

RA 11982 rewrote Section 2 of the Centenarians Act. The benefits now read like this:

- A P10,000 cash gift at each of four ages: 80, 85, 90, and 95.
- A P100,000 cash gift at 100, plus a letter of felicitation from the President.
- Open to all Filipinos, whether they live in the Philippines or abroad.

So a Filipino who lives long enough can receive P10,000 four separate times, then P100,000 at the century mark. Each gift is tied to a specific birthday. It is not a one-time payout.

One detail people miss: the law has a deadline built in. A celebrant is eligible to receive the cash gift within one year from reaching each milestone age. Miss the window for the 80th, and that particular gift can lapse, though the next milestone at 85 still stands on its own.

Who runs it, and how to claim

The law puts the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) in charge of an Elderly Data Management System, working with the Philippine Statistics Authority, the DSWD, the DICT, and your local government. In plain terms, the government has to know your lolo or lola exists in its records before it can release the gift. The DSWD and NCSC began rolling out the milestone benefits in January 2025.

What that means for a family:

- Register the senior citizen. If they are not yet on the NCSC list, register online through the Senior Citizens Data Form at https://www.google.com/url?q=http://ncsc.gov.ph&source=gmail&ust=1787094980718000&sa=E, or coordinate with the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) at your city or municipal hall.
- Keep proof of age ready. A PSA birth certificate, an OSCA senior citizen ID, or another valid government ID showing the complete name and birth date.
- Watch the birthday. Because the one-year window matters, start the paperwork around the 80th, 85th, 90th, or 95th birthday rather than years later.
- Ask the LGU or OSCA about the local release. Some cities and municipalities add their own milestone or centenarian cash gifts on top of the national one, and they usually handle the actual disbursement.

A few honest caveats

The national gift is funded through the annual General Appropriations Act, so the release date depends on budgets and validation, not just the birthday. Local practice varies from one LGU to the next. And the figures here are the national benefit under RA 11982. Any extra amount granted by a province or city is a separate matter governed by that LGU's own ordinance.
